Abstract:

This is a point dataset identifying the Mississippi River Mile Marker locations. Key attributes are ID, which contains the value in miles for the Mississippi River mile marker, and X_COORD and Y_COORD which contains the UTM Zone 15 coordinate values for each mile marker. This data set contains all of the Mississippi River Mile Marker locations within the state of Louisiana.

Purpose:

This data set was developed in an effort to provide a good approximation as to the locations of all the Mississippi River Mile Makers. The mile markers locations were approximated using heads-up digitizing in ArcView 3.2 of the markers locations displayed in the USGS 24K DRG’s.
